OUR STORY
Like many parents, I went through a challenging phase with my children, then aged 3 and 6, struggling with nighttime fears. Fear of the dark, fear of being alone, and a strong reluctance to stay in their own beds. I searched everywhere for something that could help, but nothing seemed to address all of these challenges together.
Desperate to bring them comfort, ease the stress and chaos at bedtime, and prevent ongoing sleep deprivation for all of us, I came up with an idea.
What if I could create something that made them feel they were not alone after we had said goodnight? Something they could see when the lights went out, something reassuring that made them feel brave yet protected.
That is where the idea for a collection of Nighttime Guardians was born.
As each night brought a different worry from nightmares to creepy shadows, I knew it needed to be a ‘family’ of guardians. Each with their own special power to ease specific fears. Something we could talk about at bedtime, helping to reinforce the idea that they were safe and protected. This is where the idea for the poem came in and reading it with them quickly became part of our nightly routine. It wasn't long before they learnt all the words and were telling it to me!
With the concept in place and a clear vision for how the characters should look, there was just one problem. I can’t even draw a stick man! Thankfully though, I have a very creative and talented brother. I shared the idea with him, and together we brought the characters to life, creating My Charming Dead Under the Bed.
As our household are big lovers of Halloween, I also added a little seasonal bonus. During spooky season, these whimsical guardians take on a slightly mischievous side, adding extra fun while still keeping bedtime comforting.
From the beginning, it was also important to me that My Charming Dead were created with care not only for children, but for the world they are growing up in. That is why our products are thoughtfully made using recycled materials, helping to reduce waste while creating something meaningful and long lasting.
Today, I have two very brave little ones who sleep through the night in their own beds. So I wanted to share this magic that helped our family with other parents and children everywhere who need a little extra comfort when the lights go out.
